Welcome to the Purple Door Project

The Purple Door Project is a visibility and inclusion campaign led by people with learning disabilities and/or autism. We recognise and celebrate businesses and public spaces that offer a genuine welcome — not just accessibility, but dignity, safety, and respect.

When someone receives a Purple Door sticker, it means:
“This is a place where we are seen, supported, and treated equally.”

Through simple training, community feedback, and public recognition, we help create spaces where everyone belongs.

Join us — and make inclusion visible.

Training Programs

We're currently developing simple, impactful training designed to help businesses and public spaces become truly inclusive for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism.

This short online course will be:

Easy to follow – designed for all staff

Affordable – just £10 per person

Recognised – earn a certificate and become eligible for the Purple Door sticker

Respectful and real – built with lived experience at its heart

Whether you run a café, shop, salon, gym, or any public-facing business — this training will give your team the confidence to create a space where everyone feels welcome.

Community Engagement

Our service users give out Purple Door stickers — not us. Recognition is based on real experiences of respect and welcome.

We host local hubs like our once a month Sunday drop-in at Hillsborough Arena, where people with learning disabilities and/or autism can come for food, company, advice, or just a chat.

We raise visibility in the community through events, feedback, and collaborations — from keep-fit sessions to awareness campaigns.

We empower people to shape the world around them — not be sidelined by it.
